Policy
With the Protection of Personal Information Law coming into effect from April 2005, Shinsei Trust & Banking Co., Ltd (“Shinsei Trust”) has been developing a policy to heighten the awareness of the confidential nature of customer data and tighten the security of the transfer of such data.

Email and file encryption are the two most important areas where we would like to tighten the security of data transfer.  After a comprehensive selection process, Shinsei Trust has decided to implement Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) as the encryption technology solution.  PGP has its roots as open source software that has grown into a very powerful corporate level solution.  Cost, scalability, ease of use, and quality of the protection algorithm are some of the advantages of PGP.

Shinsei Trust will deploy PGP in December 2004.  It will be installed on Shinsei Trust terminals that are involved with the task of handling private information.  The deployment of PGP as a data encryption solution will not require the purchase or use of any special hardware.

We encourage your company to consider utilizing PGP as the encryption software solution when transferring customer data with Shinsei Trust.   Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your relationship manager at Shinsei Trust or direct any technical questions to Shinsei Trust's Technical Support.
